Workshops for Kazakhstani Doctors

The Saby Foundation, within the framework of Emergency Pediatric Surgery project, organized and funded a second series of training workshops from recognized Pediatric Surgeons of Russia and Kazakhstan, Doctors of Medicine - Yuri Yuryevich Sokolov and Nurlan Nurkinovich Akhparov. The workshop "Modern Thoracoabdominal Pediatric Surgery" was held for Kazakhstani Doctors, working at Departments of Emergency Pediatric Surgery opened by the Foundation in the cities of Semey and Aktau.

Under the supervision of Professor Yu.Yu. Sokolov, complex operations were conducted at the Semey University Hospital on laparoscopic cholecystectomy, elimination of inguinal hernia by laparoscopic herniorrhaphy, and laparoscopic extraperitoneal high ligation of the spermatic vein for the treatment of varicocele. Academician N.N. Akhparov executed a complex operation to a six-month-old baby with Hirschsprung's disease, which lasted 5 hours.

In the Mangistau Regional Multidisciplinary Children's Hospital, Yu.Yu. Sokolov executed laparoscopic operations for the treatment of Congenital choledochal cyst,  as well as Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy and nephrectomy. Dr. N.N. Akhparov performed two operations on congenital malformations of the anorectal zone, Solomon Proctoloplasty.

All operations were executed without complications. The postoperative period proceeds well. All children are under medical supervision.

Moreover, Dr. Sokolov held conferences for local specialists on topical issues of modern pediatric surgery.
