The Saby Foundation acted as one of the general sponsors of the first national pavilion of Kazakhstan at the Venice Biennale, the world's most prestigious event in the field of contemporary art.
Meruert Kalieva, Commissioner of the Kazakhstan Pavilion: “The National Pavilions in Venice convey the spirit of our time through a multitude of voices and points of view from all over the world. This opportunity to showcase the creativity of Kazakhstan on an international scale feels like a very important moment for our country, and I hope that the pavilion will become one of the many projects aimed at supporting Kazakh artistic creativity in Kazakhstan and internationally”.
“We thank everyone who supported the Kazakh pavilion,” the art critic added.
In turn, the President of the Saby Foundation, Aselle Tasmagambetova, noted: “For the first time in 30 years, our country presented its own pavilion at the Venice Biennale, one of the most important and prestigious world exhibitions. Now art connoisseurs from all over the world will be able to feel our multifaceted culture. This is a truly historic event for Kazakhstan, which we, of course, supported.”
The 59th International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia runs until November 27, 2022. The main composition of the Kazakh pavilion is inspired by the ideas, life and work of the Almaty artist Sergey Kalmykov.
