In 2015, the Nauryzbay District was growing rapidly. New residential areas were emerging, thousands of families with children were moving in, and existing schools were overcrowded and operating in two shifts. There was a particular need for modern schools offering education in the Kazakh language.<\/p>\n
It was at this point that the Saby Foundation decided to build a new school in the district.<\/p>\n
I personally oversaw the project from the initial decisions through to the completion of construction. Our goal was not simply to create 1200 new student places, but to provide children with an environment where they could learn, play sports, pursue creative interests and develop their full potential.<\/p>\n
On September 1, 2017, School-Gymnasium No. 174 opened its doors. The school occupies 12 000 square meters on a three-hectare site and features modern educational and sports facilities. The construction was fully funded by the Saby Foundation, after which the school was transferred to the City of Almaty free of charge.<\/p>\n
But our work did not end there. We continued to support the school by introducing additional educational programs and advanced classes in mathematics and programming. In 2021, a modern robotics laboratory was also opened.<\/p>\n
Today, 3011 children receive their education here in the Kazakh language. Most importantly, we can see the results of this work.<\/p>\n
The quality indicator of the Unified National Testing (UNT) results has increased from 74% to 81%. This year, 81 of the school\u2019s 146 graduates received educational grants. Twenty-two students were awarded the Altyn Belgi distinction or graduated with honors. Students regularly achieve top results in city, national and international Olympiads and scientific competitions.<\/p>\n
The teachers are growing alongside their students: 192 teachers have completed professional development courses, while all 216 teachers have received training in digital education.<\/p>\n
A great deal has changed here over the past nine years. But one contrast is particularly meaningful to me: once, there was nothing but an empty lot here. Today, more than three thousand children arrive at this school every morning.<\/p>\n
This, above all, is what I see as the project\u2019s greatest achievement.<\/p>\n
Because a school is not simply walls and square meters. It is about the opportunities it gives children: to gain knowledge, explore, achieve, enter leading universities and choose their own future.<\/p>\n
And the dream with which School-Gymnasium No. 174 began \u2014 to become one of the best schools in Almaty \u2014 is gradually becoming a reality.<\/p>\n
